WhatsApp Calling feature activated on Android: iOS and Microsoft phone users will have to wait for the feature

WhatsApp has finally released they voice calling feature on the widely popular messaging app. A lot of users reported that they got a call on their phones with WhatsApp in the background and since then they have had three columns on the WhatsApp home screen. You cannot record the call or make conference calls using the voice calling feature, yet.

Earlier, you had to manually download the latest version of WhatsApp and ask a friend who had the calling feature rolled out to them to call you, even a missed call would enable the feature on your phone. We must stress that making calls on WhatsApp uses data, the feature hasn’t used a lot so we don’t really know if you should set data alerts on your phone and back off using it for a while.

We recommend you use WhatsApp when you are connected to WiFi or have an unlimited data connection if you want to spend a lot of time using WhatsApp to make calls. We had reported earlier that, you can download version 2.11.528 from the Google Play Store or version 2.11.531 from the official WhatsApp website and have someone call you to enable the feature.

Some users still have not received the update for being able to make free calls via WhatsApp. All you need to do is head over to Google Play Store and hit the update button. We hope this helps but in case you don’t have the feature enabled on your smartphone, leave your comment in the comment section below and we’ll try to resolve your problem. (Also read: How to enable WhatsApp Calling feature on Android: iOS and Microsoft phone users will have to wait for the feature)
