Switzerland: A country with happy people

In the recent “happiness survey” Switzerland was found out to be the place with happy people living there. The survey was conducted by Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) newly released Society at a Glance 2014 report. The survey was conducted by the organization’s 34 member countries who found out that Switzerland had the highest ratings for happiness. The average Swiss giving themselves a 7.8 rating on an 11 point scale.

The ranking was based on a question: “On which steps of the ladder do you feel you personally stand at the present time?” To which Switzerland got the highest rating. Switzerland was followed by Norway, Iceland and Sweden.

In a similar survey conducted twice in 2012 and 2013 by UN spotted Denmark on the top of the list. However, in the current list, Denmark fell to the fifth place. The UN report had checked factors like political freedom, social networks and income levels.

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
