#Lenskart apologizes over Nepal Earthquake message but Twitterati slam marketing opportunist!
Lenskart might think that their apology would be enough of the grave mistake but Twitterati did not look in mood to forgive them anytime soon.
India’s biggest Eyewear online shopping site Lenskart finally put up an apology on Twitter post their debacle promotional strategy revolving around the disastrous Nepal earthquake. Lenskart shocked its regular buyers and other individuals with their bizarre marketing gimmick, which directly mocked the natural disaster that rocked Nepal and North India earlier in the day. Lenskart apologized with a series of tweets on its verified Twitter account, after hashtag #Lenskart started trending on twitter, with Twitterati slamming the company for its irresponsible act. They apologized writing – we regret the wrong choice of words. We deeply apologize for unintentionally hurting any sentiments. In other message, it writes – we are really sorry for the accidental choice of words in our sms. Our intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. But looks like the damage is already done with Twitterati slamming the site for its inhumanity shown.

To many who would be not aware of the Leanskart’s epic fail promotional activity, it started this afternoon post the saddening news of Earthquake hit Nepal and northern parts of India. While the world was grieving and were anxious about the terrible calamity that has taken more than 700 lives so far, Lenskart opted to entice its customers with offers that read – Shake it off like this Earthquake: Get any Vincent Chase Sunglasses upto Rs. 3000 for FLAT Rs. 500, by sending invites to 50 friends @ www.lenskart.com/refer-sun.
@Lenskart_com Well it was a really really stupid, irresponsible and insensitive marketing tool. #boycottlenskart

Lenskart might think that their apology would be enough but Twitterati were in no mood to forgive them anytime soon. Many even talked about the whole episode of making mistake with ‘choice of words’ and later an apology to be actually planned by them to get attention. And going by the trending topics on Twitter, looks like Lenskart have actually managed to gain publicity. And if that is the case then the think-tank at Lenskart should really be ashamed for what they have done–only to undo it later!
