Yet again, an Indian has won the National Spelling Bee competition held in the United States of America. No wait, this time two Indian Americans were declared joint winners – Gopal Venkatachalam and Vanya Shivashankar. This is the eighth year in a row when an Indian American kid has won arguably the biggest spelling contest in the world. Spelling Bee is a spelling contest, where participants are asked to spell out different words in English, having varied origins. It originated in the United States of America and the first contest was held in 1925. Today, variants of the spelling bee is being organised in different countries.
