We are few hours away from the tennis world’s final showpiece event of the year, the US Open. Defending champion Rafael Nadal is out of the tournament and that takes no grandeur away from the competition as best tennis players will be sweating it out for the glory. Here is a list of top men’s players to watch out for at the Flushing Meadows.

1) Novak Djokovic

Wimbledon winner and world no. 1 Novak Djokovic starts as the favourite to clinch the US Open 2014. The Djoker has made it to the US Open finals for the last four years in a row, but only won once in 2011. However, Djokovic heads in to the US Open with defeats on his back at the Rogers Cup and the Cincinnati Masters, despite that he will have all eyes on his second US Open title.

2) Roger Federer

After winning the US Open for five consecutive years from 2004-08 Roger Federer has failed to win the title after that and reached final only once in 2009, when he failed to defend his championship against Juan Martin del Potro. Federer will be aiming for his 18th Major when he takes to court in what will be his 60th consecutive Grand Slam. We are hopeful of a good show from Federer as earlier this month he won the Cincinnati Masters.

3) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

The Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be upbeat for the contest at Flushing meadows after defeating Roger Federer in straight sets to win the Rogers Cup just couple of weeks back. Tsonga on his way to finals in Roger Cup conquered Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov. Known for his thriving serve he could be the surprise package of the tournament.

4) Milos Raonic

Canadian Milos Raonic who topped the US Open series has the biggest serve in the top ten. Raonic made it to the semi-finals of Wimbledon this year where Roger Federer trounced him. An exciting young talent who is in search of his first Grand Slam made it to quarterfinal of Rogers Cup and finished semi-finalist in the Cincinnati Masters.

5) Andy Murray

US Open 2012 champion Andy Murray has not been in best of form lately as injuries plagued him, but he will be looking to bounce back at the Flushing Meadows this year. Murray after winning Wimbledon last year has not reached to finals at any tournament. Last year he made it to the quarter-finals of the US Open.
