Zombie games are our favorite types of video games, firstly because they’re scary and secondly because zombies can’t shoot back. There are a lot of zombie games out there available for all gaming consoles. Two zombie games which stand out for the PC, which we love and you should too are:
1) Left 4 Dead
Despite the rather childish name, don’t be fooled, this game is a masterpiece, it has a very realistic feel to it and has bits and pieces of humour throughout the game that help break the tension. There are two Left 4 Dead games, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios in 2008. Left 4 Dead as it’s name suggests has four players who are left to survive hordes of zombies as they try to make their escape. It can be played in single or multiplayer modes. Left 4 Dead has a mode which allows you to play as zombies. Left 4 Dead has regular zombies as well as highly mutated, specialised zombies with certain abilities, one can incapacitate players with a single hit, the Witch, one is extremely resistant to bullets, the Tank and there are others like the Hunter, Charger, Spitter, Jockey and Smoker whose abilities you’ll have to find out for yourself. The game requires coordinated teamwork and a fair amount of skill. Players can find weapons or health packs in different parts of the map, certain objects can also be used to kill zombies like gas cylinders and petrol canisters. The only downside to the game is that only up to four players can play on a given map, which means you can’t play with more than three friends, thought for the sake of argument people who play zombie games seldom have more than three friends.
2) Call of Duty (Zombie Mode)
Call of Duty World at War was a revolutionary game in the COD series because it introduced a mode called Nazi Zombies it was continued in the Sequel Call of Duty Black ops with more maps being added to the game as well as new weapons. The Zombie mode is completely separate from the campaign mode. In it there are up to 4 players who have to fight off hordes of the undead. The game is set in an alternate dimension. The zombies are not just Nazis but even Japanese zombies and hellhounds. The sequel to Black Ops, Black Ops 2 takes the zombie mode even further, it’s set in the 60s, not the 40s and has several new game modes there area also special map packs that can be purchased, one of which is set in Alcatraz in the 1930s. The zombies get progressively faster and stronger as the levels increase, players incapacitated by zombies can be revived by their team mates as long as at least one player is standing. There is even a mode in Black Ops 2 that allow people to play as a zombie against armed humans. COD zombie mode is one you just have to play, it’s arguably as the campaign mode itself.
