But let’s look at what are the actual things that make us happy!
It does not have to do anything with chocolate and the happy hormones (serotonin) which it gives out. Any food has the ability to lift your mood. A low fat high protein diet is the key to happiness formula. Also zinc and sweetness in general elevates your mood. You can stimulate the production of serotonin by consuming food like oatmeal, cheese, nuts and cocoa.
You don’t need to go through the lists such as 100 things to do before you die or 100 places to see before you die, but actually finding your happiness in small everyday practices like reading a book pursuing your hobby ,efficiently opening yourself towards the features of existence and always being curious.
The song ‘with a little help from my friends’ says it all. A strong social bonding assures a happy life. This does not mean you need by tens of stable friends, you can have just one person whom you consider the element of luck in your life and that can make you happy!
Having the right career makes a lot of difference. No matter what you do, you need to be satisfied to be happy doing the job. A study says that the career of a beautician or a hairdresser leaves you happier than being a manager or a banker! So you need not worry about following the conventional path.
We are not being materialistic. Money does not buy happiness is the proverb. But this can’t be practically applied. Satisfaction and happiness rises in parallel to income.
A four legged friend
Yes pets do make us happy! They help us to be lively both physically and mentally. Animals reduce our stress levels. Having a dog also has an additional benefit that they will keep you physically fit since they require a lot of exercise.
You literally sniff your way into memories. You smell something and suddenly remember your childhood or even your first love. Some fragrances make you happy. Some like the smell of sweet musk, there is a scientific study which shows that this smell is liked by most people sicne it is reminiscent of mother’s milk.

Also strengthens relationship with family and friends.
