Sooraj Barjatya’s poster boy Salman Khan is back as Prem in his next Prem Ratan Dhan Payo opposite Sonam Kapoor. Salman Khan and the name Prem go hand in hand in Bollywood, almost as a copyright against the Dabangg star’s name. Well everybody remembers the big feud over the same when Suraj Barjatiya cast Shahid Kapoor as Prem in his 2006 release Vivah. Well forgetting the past we have the favourite director-actor coming together to give us again one more Prem saga as we take a look at Salman Khan’s top seven movies where he excelled as Prem.
Maine Pyar Kiya
This was the first collaboration of Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya in 1989. He became nation’s heart-throb when he portrayed the role of Prem for the first time on the silver screen. He was the ultimate lover boy every girl dreamt of and was swooned away seeing his love for the love of his life played by Bhagyashree.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!
The hit jodi of Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya came back for 1995 release Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s character Prem and Nisha became the most loved on-screen couple after this blockbuster movie. Salman Khan’s character as flirtatious and loving Prem is an all-time hit.
Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United
Salman Khan reprised the role of Prem again for Sooraj Barjatya’s 1999 family saga Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United. He was totally different from his yet played characterization of Prem as he was a serious, mature and introvert lover. His role of loving and dotting younger brother who would not shy away from leaving his love for his elder brother earned him rave reviews.
Andaz Apna Apna
Rajkumar Santoshi cast Salman Khan as Prem Bhopali in cult classic Andaz Apna Apna in 1994. He was not the typical lover boy but was at his comical best along with the other Khan of the industry, Aamir Khan.
Salman Khan played the role of Prem who is some sort of doctor love in this rip-off of Will Smith’s Hitch. In 2007 release under David Dhawan direction, he was brilliant as suave and confident Prem advising his low on confident friend Govinda get the love of his life.
No Entry is one comic flick by Anees Bazmee saw Salman Khan play a smart womaniser who fools his wife while he flirts with other women. In this crazy comedy, Salman Khan’s performance was kick-ass as a cunning, manipulative yet extremely charming guy.
Anees Bazmee’s 2011 release Ready was the last movie where Salman Khan played the role of Prem. As smart, charming and fun Prem, he finds his match in Sanjana played by Asin. In this typical crazy comedy of Anees Bazmee, we saw a witty and cool Prem.
And now finally the original Prem of Bollywood is back to give yet another love saga.
