Move over #TheDress colour and look what is in store for youngsters in Union Budget 2015-16

Taking into consideration that the rates of liquor, cigarettes, movies, concerts that works as a fuel for them has gone up, the Budget seems not a tailor made match for the young generation.

Move over #TheDress colour and look what is in store for youngsters in Union Budget 2015-16

THEDRESS

Post the announcement of Union Budget 2015-16, if you reflect on the recent events you might as well plan to take a sabbatical just like Rahul Gandhi. That is what the rest of the youth must be planning to do just like the Congress Vice President, so as to ponder over how to spend this year without chai, sutta, and pint of their favourite alcohol. No, they have not yet switched sides on the political front yet. But post February 28, all their hopes from the Narendra Modi-led NDA government died a premature death, the youth will think again about it.

The same youth which Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorted in his 2014 Lok Sabha elections and made a point to ask for their votes, feel cheated today. A lot was expected from the Union Budget 2015 by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Even those who did not give a hoot about complex jargons such as GDP, CAGR (a huge number) were suddenly looking forward to the Budget announcement.

As everyone knows that the Budget announcement includes allotment of incentives to various sectors as well as announcements on taxation and other schemes. But this time it seems the Budget came across as nothing but an anti-youth announcement. Although there were some high points for health, corporate sector, even for people who come under the BPL section, the youth was totally neglected. (Union Budget 2015-16 Price Alert: List of items got costlier in Arun Jaitley’s first budget for Modi Government)

The young generation’s pockets were blatantly attacked today by the General Budget 2015-16 as it seemed that the Finance Minister totally forgot about the so-called young driving minds of the nation. Although the Budget revolves around a lot of colossal issues such as the tax slabs, but for the youth, it has only a simple annotation that is what all products and commodities were spared for their budget friendly pocket(!)

Taking into consideration that the rates of liquor, cigarettes, movies, concerts that works as a fuel for them has gone up, the Budget seems not a tailor made match for the young generation. But sadly with the transport also becoming expensive, that option also closes, which leaves them with no option but to stare at #TheDress still figuring out if the dress is actually blue and black or is it white and golden.

1. Alcohol

You need not worry about drunk phone calls to your ex anymore since you would not be able to afford your holy pint of alcohol anymore!

2. Chai Sutta

Your Chai Sutta chronicles won’t stop for sure, but you will be tempted to cut them down for the simple reason that it is not only burning on the tip of your lips but also a huge one in your pocket!

3. Dinner dates

No more wooing your special someone with a romantic date as eating out at restaurants as well as stay in hotels are going to create a big hole in your pocket. You would rather learn to cook and impress her with your culinary skills and go easy on your ATM card.

4. Who should pay for the date?

Now if you are on a mission to woo her and take her to the date, we are not assuming that you are done with the dilemma of the age old question: who should pay for the date? Well the sad news is that credit and debit card related services will become expensive.

5. Beauty parlour

Do you like regularly indulging in some ‘ME’ time. You need to cut short on pampering yourself with extravagant beauty parlour trips as visiting beauty parlours will also become expensive. You will have to make up with settling rather with homemade age old beauty regime.

6. Music concert

Do you love to lose yourself in some musical extravaganza? Well now you will have to think twice about it. Soon you will say goodbye to music concerts and prefer watching them on television instead.

7. Travel

Have you always been a wanderlust? Have you always liked to explore places, well now thanks to the hike in Business and executive class air travel, despite being bombarded by SpiceJet schemes you will ignore the temptation to visit new places.

8. Picnic

No more picnic getaways with those picnic basket loaded with aerated drinks and packaged food as both of these are included in the list under service tax net.

9. Amusement and theme park

Just as the summer is around the corner and you are planning an outing with your friends to the nearest amusement or theme water park, the Budget announced has ruined your plans!

Meanwhile if you don’t get over it , spend your weekend staring at#TheDress still figuring out if the dress is actually blue and black or is it white and golden!
