Today May the 14th is the 69th birthday of one of the greatest directors of our time George Lucas. George Lucas (1944) is one of the best and most influential people ever, he created some of the most significant movies in popular culture which have transformed two entire generations worldwide.
As most of you may know, George Lucas is the creator of the Star Wars movies, which is a “space opera” about a war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance and of course Indiana Jones, (a series of four movies) which is about an archaeologist named Dr. Henry Jones Junior who’s on a quest to find powerful historical relics before they fall into the wrong hands. Both these franchises have fan bases in their millions and have forever changed the world (for the better or worse is a matter of personal perspective).
Because of Star Wars phrases like “May the force be with you” and “Luke, I am your father” (despite the actual line being “No I am your father”) have now become part of the English language, especially if your name is Luke and you have nasty friends. Nevertheless we have Mr Lucas to thank for that, and despite how awful the prequels were you really can’t hold it against him. Here’s a list of some quotes by George Lucas:
1) You can’t do it unless you can imagine it.
2) Good luck has its storms.
3) The secret to film is that it’s an illusion.
