Australia vs Afghanistan, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Hamid Hassan among Top 5 Players to Watch Out For in AUS vs AFG

Australia is set to take on Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Match 26 at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) Stadium in Perth on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match at the back of one match each. Co-hosts Australia look firm favourites in the competition against the Asian minnows. However, the cricket world cup is not alien to shocks and surprises. Here is a list of the top five players who could make an impact in the AUS vs AFG match

1) Hamid Hassan: There are few who boast of a bowling record better than the Afghanistan pacer. Even as his best has come against associate nations, he has proved himself to be a handy bowler against the best in the world. He can bowl at good pace and trouble the best of batsmen. He will continue to remain crucial in Afghanistan’s set-up as they look to register their first ‘surprise’ win in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Schedule: Complete Fixtures & Time Table of all Cricket World Cup 2015 Matches.

2) David Warner: The left-hander hasn’t shown his true form yet in the tournament. He has got his team off to good starts, but a big knock is still on hold. If he gets going against the Afghanistan’s new-ball pair, the minnows are going to have a tough task in chasing the total. David Warner has been in brilliant form over the last one and a half year and he will look to show his true class against the Asian side.

3) Mitchell Starc: The left-arm pacer nearly took Australia to an improbable win against new Zealand in their previous clash. His inswinging Yorkers have troubled batsmen all over the world. Afghanistan don’t have the strongest batting line-up. If they do manage to deal with Starc, Mohammad Nabi would be happy with his batsmen’s efforts.

4) Michael Clarke: The Australian batsman has battled a string of injuries to make a comeback in the world cup squad. However, he will have to justify his selection ahead of his deputy George Bailey in the side. He offers the perfect balance to the side full of hitters, before and after him in the line-up. Australia will need their captain to stand up and deliver with the bat. On the field, he continues to be one of the sharpest brains in the cricketing world.

5) Mohammad Nabi: The Afghanistan skipper has done well so far with the ball. However, with the bat the side has failed as a whole. He will look to put his skills with the willow to better use. With his off-spin, he will have to take up the onus of containing the rampaging Glenn Maxwell, who can take the game away in a matter of few overs. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 – Full Points Table
