Serena Williams was born on 26 September, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, United States, as Serena Jameka Williams. She is a multiple Grand Slam-winning American tennis player, having won 23 Grand Slams in her illustrious career. Serena Williams is the younger sister of seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams. Serena Williams is engaged to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of popular website Reddit. The couple is expecting their first baby. Hence, Serena Williams has taken a short break from playing. Serena Williams has been ranked the No.1 tennis player in women's singles eight times by The Women's Tennis Association (WTA), from 2002 to 2017. Serena Williams' height is 1.75 m and her weight is 70 kg.

Serena's parents divorced in 2002. Venus and Serena's half-siblings are Yetunde Price, Lyndrea Price, Isha Price, Dylan Starr Williams and Richard Williams III. Yetunde Price died in 2003 when she was shot dead in Compton as a result of gang war. The bullet was apparently intended for her boyfriend, who was driving the car they were in. Yetunde Price was the personal assistant of the Williams Sisters and their cloes confidante.
