Nargis Fakhri is an American Model and Actress who works largely in Bollywood movies. Nargis was born on 20 Ocober 1979 in Queens, New York to a Pakistani businessman Mohammed Fakhri and Marie Fakhri an ex cop. The couple split when Nargis was only 6 years old and her father passed away a year later. Nargis has a younger sister Alisha. Nargis started her career when she appeared in the hit American Reality Show Americas Next Top Model. Though she went through two rounds, she failed the final round in 2004. As a result Nargis started taking individual modeling careers. She came to the notice of the Indian film fraternity when she featured in the Kingfisher Calendar and was signed up by Imtiaz Ali for his musical drama Rockstar. The movie launched Nargis acting career in Bollywood and she couldnt have hoped for a better debut. Nargis played the lead role and love interest of an aspiring musical prodigy played by Ranbir Kapoor as Jordan. In the movie Nargis meets and falls in love with Jordan in Delhi University where he is known as JJ (short for Janardhan Jhakar). They both are still confused about their relationship and Heer (played by Nargis) coins the name Jordan for him before getting married and moving to Prague with her Kashmiri Pundit husband. Jordan is distraught as he has developed feelings for and gets a shock when he is falsely accused of stealing and thrown out of the house. He takes shelter in a dargah and works on his musical skills. Jordan gets noticed and becomes a Rockstar. Searching for happiness he goes to Prague and is reunited with Heer. The happiness is shortlived and Jordan is curtly asked to leave her alone as she is now married. Fate brings them together again when Jordan is asked to help Heer who is suffering from Aplastic Anemia. While Heers parents are worried, they are surprised to see Heer recovering in Jordans presence. The love story starts to blossom only to be tragically cut short when Heer conceives his child and dies due to her condition which had absolutely forbidden her from getting pregnant. Jordan is seen to lose his cool and turn distraught. His anguish however is lapped up by his fans. The movie did very good business and won Nargis the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (Female). Following the success of Rockstar, Nargis was seen as a war correspondent in Madras Caf opposite John Abraham. The movie received mix reviews and Nargis was appreciated for her role. She was next seen in 2014 in a supporting role opposite Varun Dhawan in Main Tera Hero. In the movie she played the spoilt daughter of a don who falls in love with the flamboyant Varun Dhawan. The comic caper was a commercial success and Nargis got mixed reactions from the critics. While some appreciated her portrayal of a spoilt rich brat, many were of the opinion that she was only used for the glamour quotient. Irrespective of what the critics had to say, Nargis was able to create a buzz and had a steady fan following. After the movie, Nargis was seen in an item number in Salman Khan starrer Kick. The song was a superhit. Later in the same year she was seen in a Hollywood spy comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Jude Law named Spy. Nargis played the role of a Lia a secret agent. Though she had limited scenes, she received praise for her acting abilities. The movie itself was a huge commercial success. In 2016, Nargis was seen opposite Emran Hashmi in the movie Azhar. The movie inspired by the real life of ex Indian Captain Mohammad Azharuddin. Nargis played the role of a famous and glamorous Bollywood actress who goes on to have an affair with the Indian skipper. The movie did moderate business and Nargis received mixed responses from the critics. While some appreciated her acting skills and referred to her as likeable, overall the movie was only able to give her moderate success. She was next seen in the third installment of Sajid Khans Housefull series. The movie saw Nargis in a supporting role opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The movie was a commercial success but Nargis was highly criticized for her choice of roles. Many movie pundits described her as a mere glamour quotient in the movie and suggested that she should concentrate on finding roles which would add merit to her career. Nargis was also seen in a minor role in action comedy Dishoom in which she played a cameo as Samira Dalal. The movie was a moderate success at the box office.Nargis next would be Banjo where she plays the lead role opposite Riteish Deshmukh. The movie is set to release on September 23, 2016. She has also signed another Hollywood movie titles 5 Weddings.
