Mumbai, July 6: A new romantic song from the film ‘Masaan’ was published on Youtube by the Zee Music Company through their Youtube channel. The song is heart warmingly sweet with simple but soulful lyrics. It features Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi who have played the characters of Deepak chaudhary and Shalu Gupta respectively in the film. The track is a soft romantic one, in keeping with the mood of the film. Deepak (Vicky) and Shalu (Shweta) are two youngsters living in the highly casteist society of Benares and who fall in love with each other. Shalu belongs to the higher Gupta caste while Deepak belongs to the lower caste whose occupation is the burning of funeral pyres on the ghats of the Ganges. The video of the song shows how the two start liking each other and eventually fall in love. Other cast includes Richa Chaddha and Sanjay Mishra. The film that was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, has been directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, who had earlier assisted Anurag Kashyap with Gangs of Wasseypur. The film is Ghaywan’s directorial debut and is an Indo-French co-production produced by Manish Mundra, Macassar Productions, Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films, Sikhya Entertainment, Arte France Cinema and Pathé Productions. The film won the FIPRESCI Prize in the main competition section and a special prize for debut films at the Cannes Film Festival 2015. Masaan which was screened at Cannes under the English title ‘Fly Away Solo’, will be released in India on July 24.
