Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2014: Asaduddin Owaisi's MIM party registers historic win!

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has thanked the voters of Maharashtra for ensuring the victory of his party’s candidates from two Assembly segments. Addressing a press conference at Darulsalaam in Hyderabad on October 19, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the AIMIM has won two seats of Aurangabad Central and Byculla and emerged as runner up in three other seats.

Thanking voters for their overwhelming response to the party, which contested its debut elections for Maharashtra Assembly, he said that the elections provided humbling and learning experience. “There were certain weaknesses which would like to remove. Now we’ve got a platform and we will build it from here. We will overcome some organisational weaknesses,” he said.

Asaduddin Owaisi said that the MIM’s performance in Maharashtra elections was beyond anyone’s imagination. He said many people did not expect the MIM to win seats. “By making an entry into the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, MIM has created history,” he said adding that now the party plans to foray into Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. “Now we cannot be stopped. We will go everywhere,” he announced.

MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi recalled the difficulties that MIM leaders faced in campaigning in Maharashtra elections. He said many cases were booked and obstacles were created at every stage. “Although we won only two seats, but our victory is unprecedented,” he said.

Akbar Owaisi said that the MIM would prove its might in the forthcoming municipal elections in Maharashtra. MIM legislators Syed Pasha Quadri, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Ahmed Balala, Syed Amin Jafferi and other leaders were also present.
