Kinder Downfall is the tallest waterfall in Peak District near Hayfield of England. The waterfall is 30 metre (98 feet) tall but when hit by wind, an unusual phenomenon can be experienced with what looks like a revere waterfall! Yes the waterfall defies gravity as the storm force winds pummeled the Peak District, Kinder stops the down flow and gets blown back upwards. Kinder was formerly known as Kinder Scut blows back unto Kinder Scout Plateau. The reverse waterfall normally gushes 80ft down Kinder Downfall.
This YouTube video shows the Kinder River cascading upwards from ex- hurricane Gonzalo hit. The video uploader Rod Kirkpatrick wrote, “As storm force winds batter the Derbyshire Peak District, near Hayfield, the river Kinder is stopped in its tracks as it is blown back up onto Kinder Scout Plateau at the point where it would normally cascade 80ft down Kinder Downfall.”
