Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Teaser: Sushant Singh Rajput plays the Indian 'Sherlock Holmes'

Remember the handsome actor who tried his best to act like the womaniser in the film Shuddh Desi Romance. Sushant Singh Rajput back, this time trying to play Sherlock Holmes in the film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. It seems like Director Dibakar Banerjee’s new film has been influenced by the detective films and cartoons especially, the Robert Downey Jr. starrer. There are also shades of World War films like Valkyrie and Inglorious Basterds which might make you say, “Ah! I’ve seen this somewhere.”

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is the Bengali adaptation of the detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The teaser for the film has just been released and it does look good, very good! The cinematography is particularly attractive. Another great part about the teaser is the music, the western rock music makes this Bollywood film look like a Hollywood product.

The description on the youtube page says, “In a contemporary interpretation of war torn Calcutta during the 1940’s, the film follows the first adventure of Byomkesh (Rajput), fresh out of college, as he pits himself against an evil genius who is out to destroy the world. It’s his wits against the most villainous arch criminal the world has seen, in a world of murder, international political intrigue and seduction.” Watch the teaser here.
