Catch the Live Updates of the El Clasico match between Madrid and Barca here,.
Full Time: Peeeep, Peeeep. Real Madrid defeat Barcelona and its the first time the Blaugurana have been defeated in the season. Since the Pep Guardiola era, there haven’t been too many occasions where we have read this: Barcelona were simply outclassed in all areas and all departments and Ronaldo put a great show while Messi was pale in comparison. The credit goes to the forward line of Madrid, nah…stuff that, everybody was immense and the whole team deserves a pat on the back for this show as Barca’s old rivals are well and truly back and look poised to catch up with them.
90+1: Messi gets to take a freekick from 25 yards out. The angle is very much in his range and his shot goes miles high over Casillas’s post and that should be curtains for Barca.
89′ Marcelo bursts forwards in speed again. Yes, I will remember to save this line during Real’s games in the future henceforth and looked to be in a promising position. With people either side of him, Marcelo takes a shot and it is a tame effort.
88‘ More defensive substitutions come from the Carlo Ancelotti’s dugout and Luca Modric, after an excellent game at the base of the midfield comes off and Alvaro Arbeloa is on.
85‘ Barca switch the ball from side to side but again, its pointless and nothing comes of it. Now Karim Benzema comes off and has a World Cup winning replacement in Sami Khedira.
83′ Isco is off and the Spaniard has had a tremendous game and has been a thorn in Barca’s flesh all evening. Asier Illaramendi comes on for him to add more bodies in midfield and Isco departs from the game to the thunderous reception from the Bernabeau.
80′ The corner is terrible and Real start another attack down the left flank, which has perpetually left a yawning gap on the counter and Ronaldo and co run with speed. The ball is centered to the Portuguese, who fails to to see that he had space top cut in and shoot but chooses to pass it and the ball is cut out.
79′ Messi is yet again heckled by the Madrid players when he is on the ball and there are absolutely no attacks going through the centre and Dani Alves takes a shot and it is into the side netting.
77′ Neymar is drifting far too wide and keeps running into blind alleys and Carvajal retrieves the ball and launches another counterattack. Yet again, it is Mascherano who makes a crucial interception after Marcelo creates an excellent chance, cutting into midfield.
73′ Real Madrid look like scoring at any moment again and their midfielders and forwards have been immense here. Carvajal starts a new attack and James picks up the ball deep in midfield and gives it to Benzema. The Frenchman takes another powerful left-footed shot and it bounces back of Mascherano, who yet again keeps parity in check on the scoreline.
70‘ Iniesta and Luca Modric come together in a crunching clash and the Spaniard is clutching his knees in agony. Enrique makes his last change and it is Sergio Roberto who comes on for Iniesta.
68‘ Barca now surge forward and its a long ball into the box, so unlike Barca but Neymar’s header is wide. Luis Suarez’s night is over and Pedro comes on. Just then, Real’s forwards break in speed again and Benzema takes a thunderous shot but it goes well wide.
66′ Cristiano Ronalo runs into space again and he has players for support and Toni Kroos is in acres of space on the left and typically tries to do it on his own and loses the ball. Terrible play from the Ballon d’Or winner.
64′ Real are looking confident and look terrorising on the counter and Barca are getting torn apart in these situations and in another attack down the left flank, the ball falls to James, but Mascherano makes an excellent last ditch tackle to keep Barca in the contest.
60′ Goal!! Karim Benzema Ivan Rakitic’s first touch is a corner and its a poorly taken and Real start a lightening fast counter-attack. Marcelo dashes down the left but the ball for Ronaldo in the centre is a little slow and he takes a turn and passes it to James. Its a 3 vs 2 situation and James threads it to Benzema, who surges forward and smashes the ball to the bottom right corner.
58′ Messi makes a dash through the centre but Ramos and Pepe are tight on their man and Messi doesn’t give up and retrieves the ball wins a corner. Xavi comes off and Rakitic comes in
56′ Casillas makes another great save after Suarez was stopped in his tracks by Ramos’s last ditch clearance. Powerful shot from Iniesta but the SApanish captain parries the ball away. Real start a lightening quick attack and Ronaldo plays an excellent through ball to Marcelo on the left flank, who delivers a good ball in and Bravo comes out to collect the ball. Good awareness.
53′ Barcelona frantically look for a quick equaliser and the ball Messi is doubled up and the ball is cleared and Real start another attack and the James cuts in and surges forward from the left flank. Good link up play by Marcelo and the chip is an easy save for Bravo.
50′: GOAL – Real Madrid have completed the turn around and it’s Pepe who puts Carlo Ancelotti’s side into the lead with a clean header from the corner. James launches a counter attack as Benzema and Ronaldo combine to win a corner. Terrible marking from the Catalans as Pepe rises above everyone else to head the ball past Bravo.
46′: The second half starts with Modric giving away a free-kick for a foul on Suarez. Messi and Neymar stand over the free-kick but the former’s attempt towards goal is blocked by the Madrid wall.
Half Time: Its been an even battle so far and Neymar’s goal came out of nowhere. On the balance of it, Real created more chances and looked dangerous on the ball and Casillas’s point-blank save has certainly been the stand out moment of the game.
43′ Barca throw back the clock and pass the ball sideways, backwards and snooze….James delivers a ball into the box and the ball is cleared and it is shifted to the left flank to Marcelo, who delivers a delightful ball to James again and the colombian’s header is an inch wide of the post. CLOSE.
40′ Barca again get the ball back and enjoy possession in the middle of the park and and the ball is crossed to Ronaldo on the right flank but the goalscorer’s cross is overhit and its out of play.
37′ In these contests, its usually Real who end up with the maximum number of bookings but Barcelona are dominating that territory and its the best of them who are being brandished cards. Here is Andres Iniesta with a yellow.
35‘ Goal!! Ronaldo It’s a cool, calm penalty struck in the bottom right corner and Claudio Bravo jumps the wrong way and thereby concedes the first goal of the campaign.
34′ Penalty. Marcelo’s low ball hits Pique’s hand there is a call for penalty and it is one. The defender gets a yellow card.
31′ The ball is delivered into by Neymar to Messi, who gives a wonderful cross and Ramos makes a timely header away from the box. It looked off-side and the referee makes a belated call for offside.
29′ Messi is slowly coming into the game and when the ball is on his feet, its zip, zap zoom. Neymar on the left-flank is looking equally threatening and is staying in Messi’s vicinity and Suarez is spread out wide.
27′ In terms of all-round play, the Real madrid midfield is looking better but could have done with Bale’s power and precision up front. Suarez is looking a tad rusty, which is understandable .
25′ The pressing has been rather moderate up front up and with Real looking anxious and midfielders working aggressively, the backline is getting exposed. Another counter by Barca and Suarez receives the ball and Suarez’s touch is heavy.
20′ Messi in action but Iker Casillas shows his class with a stunning save. First, the Argentine squeezes a shot from outside the box and its straight to Casillas. The ball is retrieved by Real and Suarez delivers an excellent ball into the box and it looked like 2-0 and Messi’s tap is parried away by Casillas from point-blank range.
19′ Real’s defenders have moved high up as Real look to press for the equaliser. Marcelo drills a low ball in and it falls straight to Ronaldo, who is on the right flank now. He jinks past Mathieu with ease but it its cut out.
17′ Barca are trying to slow down the tempo of the game with a concerted time of possession on the ball and Jeremy Matheiu has a lot of time on the ball. Real get the ball on the counter and Ronaldo cuts in and takes another shot. Its yet another weak effort.
13: What Messi can, Neymar can too. The Brazilian gets a booking for punching Carvajal on the face and Real are not able to get a clear attack on target. There has been a rain of shots and apart from Benzema’s efforts, the attacks lack killer instinct.
10′ Frantic scenes in the Barca territory as they make a wave of attacks in the opposite end. Benzema first takes a shot but it is kicked out of play. Then Real construct another attack and Benzema makes two attempts on target. Both hits canons of the post. Tantalisingly close
8′ Booking Guess who, its Lionel Messi who gets the first bookingn of the game. Seconds earlier, Pique came together with Ronaldo and the referee thought Ronaldo was not penalised.
5′ Real immediately look for a response and Cristiano makes the first move and then the Portuguese puts a ball into the box and Karim Benzema chips the ball over Bravo but it is off target and the ball goes wide of the post.
3′ Goal!! Neymar! Xavi turns back the clock with skip and turns the ball into the edge of the box and Messi gets the ball and passes the ball to Neymar on the left flank, who cuts to his right and slams it to the bottom left corner.
2′ Its Clasico time and Barca start on the ball and Barca who have a majority of the posesssion. James plays a long raking ball to Ronaldo on the left flank and the attack comes to nothing.

Ronaldo’s astounding feats in recent times have been well documented and could well be the first player to break the Barca’s impeccable defensive record this season. Plundering one hat-trick after another and marching with vigour to break goalscoring records in sight, the Portuguese maestro is on a roll. Fresh from a thumping 3-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield, the European Champions’ momentum is on the ascendency, after a rather slow start to the season, which saw them falling behind Barca in the early exchanges of the league table. The Uruguayan maverick, Luis Suarez’s return to football and his probable debut is on the forefront of it all. After serving a four month ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in the FIFA World Cup 2014, Suarez is back. Making your club debut in a contest this big can either make or derail a player’s career, no matter how big a name he is. As for the Suarez, he is no stranger to hostility and pressure and has handled pressure with aplomb, whenever he has had to endure a setback.
