Pro Kabaddi League: Bengal Warriors beat Dabang Delhi in closing minutes

Kolkata, July 31: Bengal Warriors held their nerves in the closing minutes to pip Dabang Delhi by two minutes to taste their maiden success in the Pro Kabaddi in the second match at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here today. Bengal Warriors had the upper hand leading 28-14 at the half-time but the Delhi team made a spectacular comeback through Kashiling Adake (10 raid points) and Surjeet Narwal (8) as they made it 38-38 in 36 minutes.

Cheered by a boisterous crowd, Bengal Warriors however made it count as they held Adake in the dying minutes to almost tilt the match in Bengal’s favour before they coasted to a 42-40 win. Korean recruit Jang Kun Lee was once again had a stand out performance with seven raid points to be adjudged the Best Raider while it was Nitin Madane who topped with eight raiding points.

The Kolkata franchise now have five points with one win from three matches, while Dabang Delhi too logged one point as the margin of loss was less than seven points as they have one win and two losses. Riding on a fine effort by the Korean Lee Bengal Warriors surged past Dabang Delhi early into the start.
Lee had a successful raid of three points in the ninth minute, something that turned it around for the city side who had started on backfoot having lost both their opening matches.

There was no looking back from there on as Bengal Warriors slowly found their feet firmly with Madane and Goud making their presence felt with some power packed effort. Madane had seven raid points ahead of Goud’s six to give Bengal a commanding 14-point lead over Delhi at the break.
