Australia are almost done and dusted in the match. They will need a miracle to turn things their way; or even survive to eke out a draw on Day Five of the first Test match at Dubai. Fortunately for them, Chris Rogers is looking rather comfortable unlike the other top-order Australian batsmen against Pakistani spinners. Steve Smith, who has been in good form lately too is looking to use his feet. however, that could well prove to be his undoing.

Australia 41/0 in 11 Overs Australia have got off to a good start against Pakistan in their chase of 438. However, Chris rogers is having a tough time against the Pakistani skippers. There is loud shout for caught behind. Rogers was given out; but he reviewed it and got the decision in his favour. He survived to see another life as the visitors look to chase down the massive target.

It is the first time in 40 years that a batsman has scored two tons in a single Test against Australia. Glenn Turner was the last player to do so in March 1974. The entire Pakistan dressing room stood up to applaud the historic feat. The second innings was declared at 283 for three, leaving Australia with 438 runs to win.

Pakistan 283/2 in 78 Overs Younis Khan scores another ton and registers two more records. He becomes the highest century-maker by Pakistan in a Test, surpassing Inzamam-ul-Haq’s tally of 25 tons. He also registered the 75th incident in Test history and the third in 2014 of recording two centuries in a single Test. Co-incidentally David Warner was the last batsman to do so when he scored two tons against South Africa in March.

Pakistan 247/2 in 73 Overs Steve O’Keefe comes to the rescue again. The left-arm débutante strikes for the second time in the innings as he dismisses the dangerous looking centurion Ahmed Shehzad. Shehzad’s innings of 131 comes to an end as he is trapped in front of stumps. Meanwhile, Younis Khan is looking solid at the other end. Sarfaraz Ahmed, another centurion from the first innings has come out to join him following the dismissal of Shehzad. Meanwhile, Younis Khan continues his good form with the bat. the veteran records yet another Test half-century to his name. This 50 comes at the back of a century in the first innings. The duo has put on almost 150 runs for the third wicket. Pakistani bowlers are looking helpless in Dubai.

Pakistan 142/1 in 54 Overs Ahmed Shehzad is moving along at a good pace in company of the experienced Younis Khan. The pitch is offering nothing to the Australian bowlers nor are the Pakistani batsmen in the middle. They are simply going through the process. 26 runs scored in the first ten overs of the second session. Ahmed Shehzad has made up for the first innings failure.

Pakistan 116/1 in 44 Overs Younis Khan and Ahmed Shehzad have piled on the agony on Australia with some quick scoring in the first session on Day Four after the fall of azhar Ali. Pakistan have extended their lead to 267 runs with nine wickets in hand, putting them in a comfortable position in the match. Azhar Ali’s wicket was the only moment of success for Australia on Day Four so far. the hosts have added 78 runs in the first session.

Pakistan 92/1 in 36 Overs Steve O’Keefe gets another wicket on his debut as Australia finally manage to break the opening partnership. The left-arm spinner gets the outside edge of Azhar Ali’s bat and Brad Haddin takes the catch easily with Pakistan at 71. The scorecoard is moving quickly. Azhar Ali c †Haddin b O’Keefe 30 (65b)

Pakistan 69/0 in 23 Overs Pakistan have got off to a solid start in the second innings. The openers are making amends after failing in the first innings. Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali have put on a half-century stand and are looking in no trouble whatsoever against the Australian bowling attack. The lead has crossed 200 with all 10 wickets remaining. Australia need a stroke of luck or a moment of madness by Pakistan to turn things their way at the moment. Pakistan have added 31 runs on Day Four in the first 10 overs so far.

Pakistan resume Day Four in a commanding position against Australia at the Dubai international Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Saturday. After the middle-order put up a strong resistance against Australia after the loss of two early wickets, the young bowlers showed their skill on a wicket that didn’t have much on offer for them. They lead the match with 189 runs with 10 wickets in hand and will look to score at a fast pace on the penultimate day of the match.

Pakistan 38/0 in 13 Overs Pakistan batsmen gave a couple of half-chances and that was it. The batsmen are now getting into a nice rhythm and the lead is soon approaching the 200 mark. Still a long way to go in this Test match but Pakistan have Australia on the mat now. The meek surrender against Sri Lanka should not be ignored though. With plenty of time left in the Test, Pakistan batsmen should bide their time at the crease. As for Australia though, the going has been tough and they threw away the advantage after Warner’s cracking ton. They only have magic Johnson to look up to.

2nd Innings Pakistan 11/0 in 5 Overs Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad made a patient start, scoring just three runs from four overs before an eventful Mitchell Johnson over infused life back for the spectators watching. Since the afternoon, a sizeable crowd has turned up to the Dubai International Stadium and Azhar Ali played two good looking cover drives of Johnson, which reached the boundary ropes. After two being hit for two successive boundaries, Johnson tries a yorker, Azhar Ali blocks the ball, which bobs high before missing the stumps by a couple of feet.

Australia 303 in 103.1 Overs That’s the end of it. After a long stay at the crease, Steve O’Keefe decides to go after Yasit Shah’s spin and the ball goes miles in the air before skipper Misbah-ul-Haq takes a safe catch at mid-wicket to pull down curtains on the Australian innings. What a performance by the Pakistan bowlers, who were expected to struggle with so many of their frontline bowlers sitting out of the game. Yasir Shah picks up his third wicket in what has been an impressive debut so far, apart from one expensive over.S O’Keefe c Misbah b Yasir Shah 6(47)

Australia 299/9 in 102 Overs Mitchell Johnson has taken charge and in what is a stark contrast to his aggressive streak with the willow in his hand, he is building a patient partnership with Steve O’Keefe and the partnership crossed the thirty  run mark. Just as I finish typing that, Rahat Ali’s short delivery entices Johnson to play a pull shot and it is hit kindly to substitute fielder Shan Masood, who takes a simple catch. M Johnson c Sub b Rahat Ali 37(62)

Australia 282/8 in 93 Overs at Tea Australia have capitulated dramatically  after being in command and David Warner’s stupendous knock has gone in vain. Pakistan coach Waqar Younis gives the team a standing applause and his bowlers truly earned that. Australia’s hopes now lie squarely on Mitchell Johnson’s shoulders and Australia’s woes against spin was exposed yet again.

Australia 267/8 in 88 Overs Another one goes and Pakistan are on the drivers’ seat now and Zulfiquar Babar traps the Australian all-rounder in front. Its now up to the tail-enders and the bowlers have have delivered a scintillating performance. Zulfiquar crammed Marsh and Mohammad Hafeez gets the wicket of Peter Siddle after the pacer went for a sweep shot off a delivery that was darted into middle and leg and the umpire had one hard look and sent back his marching orders. M Marsh lbw b Zulfiqar Babar 27(61), P Siddle lbw b Hafeez 0(4)

Australia 249/6 in 81 Overs Australia have dropped anchor and both the aggressive batsmen at the crease — Mitchell Marsh and Brad Haddin — patiently worked out the rut and were building on a good partnership. Working out the singles and seeing out the spinners, the batsmen looked like they had a plan. Things were falling in place too but then Haddin was beaten by a gorgeous delivery, seam movement coming into the batsmen and knocking back his off stump and Pakistan have taken a crucial wicket. B Haddin b Imran Khan 22 (46)

Australia 208 for 5 in 67 Overs Big Fish! David Warner departs and its a gem of delivery by Yasir Shah. The debutant leg-spinner bowls a googly and spins right into Warner’s drive and he is beaten all ends up. Its a big blow and now Pakistan have taken the game by scruff of its neck. Superb bowling and Pakistan gave definitely unearthed a couple of superb prospects in Yasir Shah and Imran Khan.

Australia 207 for 4 in 66 Overs Australia are still in a good position at Lunch with David Warner batting on 133 and still going strong. The carefree abandon, which is one of the arch typical characteristics of the southpaw’s batting will have to take a backseat with the top order back in the hut in quick time. Steve Smith started well and was lending good support to Warner but he failed to keep a cut shot down and slashed the ball straight to Mohammad Hafeez at point and Yasir Shah gets his first Test wicket. S Smith c Hafeez b Yasir Shah 22(44)

Australia 163 for 3 in 53 Overs Oh boy its a poor shot from the Australian skipper and another one goes back to the hut.  Credit to Azhar Ali though for leaning full length towardsn his left and taking a diving catch. Zulfiqar is the bowler and Pakistan are having a good little phase here and won back advantage. This tour is crucial to Clarke and its got off to an awful start. M Clarke c Azhar Ali b Zulfiquar Babar 2(13)

Australia 151 for 2 in 49 Overs Australia have lost their second wicket as calamity strikes for Australia. Just like Rogers, Alex Doolan was biding his time at the crease and he stroked the ball to mid-on and runs a quick single and a direct hit sends Doolan packing. Warner hesitated initially and it seemed like it was the centurion who looked like getting into trouble. A Doolan Run Out 5(34)

Australia 151 for 1 in 48 Overs David Warner brings up his ninth century in Test cricket and he brings it up by cracking a drive past mid-on and the Warner juggernaut keeps rolling in 2014. As mentioned earlier, this is his first century after turning a father and he looks set for a much bigger score

Australia 133 for 1 in 41 Overs David Warner is carrying on from where he left in the final session of the day’s play yesterday and is moving towards yet another big score in the calender year. What a year this has been for the southpaw and it will be his first three figure score after becoming a father. Rogers’ long, laboured stay though has come to an end as Rahat Ali castles the veteran opener. C Rogers b Rahat Ali 38(130)
