With the 7th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) around the corner we check out some numbers from the lucrative league.

  1. Gautam Gambhir has the most half centuries in IPL. He has scored 20 fifties in 87 innings and is yet to score a hundred.
  2. Chris Gayle has scored 4 hundreds the most in IPL. He has hit 180 6s accumulating to approx. 43% of his total runs.
  3. Amit Mishra has most number of ducks, 9 times he has been dismissed on zero. Sharing the second spot are Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey and Jacques Kallis with 8 ducks.
  4. Lasith Malinga is the only bowler to take hundred wickets, he has 103 wickets and next on the list is Amit Mishra with 95 wickets. (Read:  List of Purple Cap holders in the Indian Premier League)
  5. Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle are the only batsmen with 50 above matches who have a strike rate of 160 odd.
  6. Suresh has scored most runs, he leads the list with 2802 runs under his belt. Raina has also played the maximum number of matches (99) and has taken the most catches (52).
  7. Adam Gilchrist has 77 dismissals the most by a wicketkeeper.
  8. Chris Gayle’s 175* against Pune Warriors India in 2013 is the highest score in IPL.
  9. Sohail Tanvir’s 6/14 vs. Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural edition remains best bowling figures in the league.
  10. James Faulkner is the only bowler who has taken two five wicket hauls.
  11. Ishant Sharma has conceded most runs in an innings. In a game against Chennai Super Kings he went for 66 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
  12. Sunil Narine is the only bowler (Minimum 50 overs) who has a bowling economy under 6 runs. Narine has bowled 123.1 overs.
  13. Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh (KXIP) scored 206 runs for 2nd wicket vs. RCB, is the highest partnership for any wicket.
  14. MS Dhoni has captained CSK in 96 matches the most as captain.
  15. KKR defeated RCB by 140 runs is the largest victory in terms of runs. RCB were set a target of 223 runs.
  16. 263/5 by RCB vs. Pune Warriors India is the highest team total.
  17. 58/10 by RR vs. RCB is the lowest team total.
  18. KKR conceded 28 runs against Deccan Chargers as extras which is the most in an innings.
