For the fourth time in 5 games, a team was bowled out for a total of less than a hundred while chasing a total, as West Indies bundles up Pakistan for a paltry score of 82 after setting up a target of 167 for them batting first.  West Indies beat Pakistan by 84 runs to enter the semi finals of the tournament, their second in a row.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, West Indies got off to a bad start as they lost both their openers within the fourth over of the innings. They were further in trouble when they were 81/5 in 14 overs. it was at this moment when Darren Sammy joined hands with Dwayne Bravo and both of them destroyed the best that Pakistan had to offer in the death overs, scoring 59 runs of the last 3 overs. The domination of both the batsmen towards the end of the innings was such that they hit Saeed Ajmal for 24 runs in an over, the most he has ever conceded.

Chasing a challenging score, Pakistan got off to an even worse start when they lost the centurion from the previous game, Ahmed Shehzad on the very first ball of the innings. They were soon reduced to 13/4, as leg spinner Samuel Badree destroyed the top order. From then onwards it was always going to be a miracle that could have saved the Pakistani’s from a huge defeat. They seemed like getting any sort of momentum going and could score only 13 runs in the power play, the lowest ever in their T20 history. First Badree and then Narine picked up 3 wickets each as the Pakistan was restricted to their second lowest total ever.

The turning point of the match would go the 18 over bowled by Umar Gul when West Indies were 107/5. Gul was struck for 21 runs in that over, providing west indies with some much needed momentum, after which Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy thumped Saeed Ajmal for 24 runs in the next over, taking the teams total in excess of 150, a score that looked highly unlikely a couple of overs back.

Result: West Indies beat Pakistan by 84 runs.

Man of the match: Dwayne Bravo.
