Three belts were exchanged at WrestleMania 31, which shows that the WWE is going for a complete revamp in how things play out in the company. The three superstars who got lucky were Daniel Bryan, John Cena and Seth Rollins. Yes, even Seth Rollins! The glittery night also saw The Undertaker, Triple H, AJ Lee & Paige, Big Show emerge victorious after hard fought battles against their opponents. We take a look at how the superstars fared. Watch full videos of all WrestleMania 31 matches below:

1. WWE Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Championship Match

WrestleMania 31 kicked off with the Fatal Four-Way championship match. It was the team of Tyson Kidd and Cesaro that prevailed over the three other teams and eventually retained their titles. La Matadores, The Usos, and The New Day tried their level best to secure wins, but the sly tap by Cesaro in the fag end of the match made all the difference!

2. WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Match

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was the second match of the night, which saw 20 wrestlers fighting to lay their hands on the coveted Andre the Giant trophy. The match had many twists and turns, as it narrowed down to a fight between Miz, Mizdow, and Big Show in the hand. Having enough of Miz’s nonsense, the stunt double Sandow threw him over the top ropes to make it a contest between him and The Big Show. However, trying to send Show over the top rope, the giant nearly choke-slammed Mizdow off the ring. After winning the trophy, Big Show even tried to ape the famous Andre the Giant pose.

3. Daniel Bryan vs Stardust vs Luke Harper vs R Truth vs Dolph Ziggler vs Dean Ambrose vs Wade Barrett – Intercontinental Championship

After the Kickoffs, it was the multi-superstar ladder match for Intercontinental Championship. Daniel Bryan, Stardust, Luke Harper, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, R Truth and Dean Ambrose got involved in a gruesome battle, which saw ladders being used to brutal effect. The spotlight of the match was Bryan, who engaged in a one-on-one battle with Ziggler on the top of the ladder. After pushing Ziggler off, Bryan took no time to lay his hands on the prestigious title hanging above his head, and make the WrestleMania a Yes-tle-mania!

4. Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins

It was Randy Orton’s redemption moment at WrestleMania 31, as he locked horns with Money In The Bank winner Seth Rollins next. Rollins had the early advantage in the match and was even helped by Jamie & Joey (J & J Security) when Orton was about to deliver a RKO. After being Curbstopmed once, it was the sheer agility of Orton that he improvised and turned the second deadly ‘Curbstomp’ into a crafty RKO to nail Rollins on the mat.

5. Triple H vs Sting- No Disqualifications Match

The Vigilante Sting took on WWE COO Triple H in WrestleMania 31’s next match. Sting stepped into the WWE ring for the very first time amid huge applause. Triple H’s entrance showcased a glimpse of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator: Genisys. The match lived up to its hype. As Sting and Triple H exchanged blows in the ring, it was a delight for WWE fans to see the D-Generation X guys – Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac – heading down the ring to save HHH.

The surprise for WWE Universe didn’t end there as New World Order guys, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall headed to the ring to even out the numbers. Sting locked Triple H in a sharpshooter only to find another surprise Heart Break Kick by Shawn Michaels to the face. The crowds’ chanted ‘This is awesome’ as the duel got fierce with every blow. However, Triple H pinned down Sting and won the match! Both the legends shook hands after the match, as curtains fell on their bitter-sweet rivalry.

6. AJ Lee and Paige vs The Bella Twins- Divas’ Tag Team Match

Next up was Divas’ division match as AJ Lee and Paige take on the notorious Bella Twins – Brie and Nikki. The tag team match between the four divas is surely one of the better matches in Divas’ section for a long time now. Bella Twins tried every dirty trick in their kitty to outwit AJ and Paige but failed to do so. In the end, it was the former Divas’ champion’s submission move – Black Widow on Nikki Bella that saw the team emerge victorious in the end.

7. John Cena vs Rusev- United States Championship Match

The War of the Worlds contest was the next match, as Alexander Rusev marched out on a big Russian tank. One of the most creative entrances in recent times, he was accompanied by Lana. John Cena’s music hit the TitanTron and the arena blasted the roof off cheering for USA. Rusev ruthlessly beat up John Cena, in complete control of the match. Cena, re-energised by the ‘USA’ chants from the crowd, hit a second-rope stunner to Rusev. In a bid to foil Cena’s plan, Lana tried to interrupt the match. Rusev got distracted and instead of hitting a clothes-line to Cena, he accidentally pushed Lana off the ring. Cena hit ‘Attitude Adjustment’ and pinned down Rusev to win the United States Championship.

They say surprises keep coming at WrestleMania and this year was no different. After the D-Generation X and New World Order factions returned, People’s Champion – The Rock marched out to confront Stephanie and Triple H! Stephanie slapped The Rock, who is accompanying MMA Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey sitting ring-side. What ensues is one of the best WrestleMania moments in WWE history!

8. The Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt

The New Face of Fear Bray Wyatt took on The Deadman Undertaker in one of the most awaited matches of the night. Undertaker in turn fought Wyatt impeccably and it didn’t seem that he was back in the ring after a year-long hiatus. Wyatt took the fight to Undertaker and was in no mood to make it a cakewalk for him. Undertaker beat all odds and hit a Tombstone Pile Driver on Wyatt to count for the pin. To his shock, Wyatt kicked out, infuriating Undertaker to hit another Tombstone Pile Driver. Undertaker rests Wyatt in peace, finally!

9. Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns- WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The main event of the night saw Roman Reigns take on the The Beast Brock Lesnar. Dubbed to be a one-sided match for Lesnar, Reigns proves every single bit of it wrong. As soon as the bell rang, Reigns went on the offensive, landing punches one after another. In less than 30 seconds of the commencement of the match, Lesnar was seen bleeding near the eye.

But soon, Lesnar was all over Reigns, as he hit 10 suplexes on the Shield Powerhouse. Reigns didn’t back down and taunted Lesnar to hit him more. The crowd, which booed Reigns a month back at Royal Rumble, cheered him as he hit Superman Punches one after the other, making Brock bleed more. The assault didn’t end there, as Reigns ‘Spear-ed’ Lesnar two times in a row. The night got more interesting thereon, only to find Seth Rollins’ music hitting the arena, undoing all the built-up excitement!

Rollins cashed-in on his Money In The Bank contract and the one-on-one match became a Triple Threat one for World Heavyweight Championship. As Rollins tried to Curbstomp Lesnar, The Beast improvised to hit an F5 on The Authority’s protégé. Reigns hit a brutal Spear on Lesnar, even as Rollins took the advantage and Curbstomped Reigns. Eventually, Seth Rollins won the match and was crowned the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion! (Edited by Shweta Parande)
