EPL Table & Results: Points Table and Team Standings at 2014-15 Barclays Premier League Week 28

Liverpool-Celebration-vs-Burnley

Matchweek 28 in the Barclays Premier League 2014-15 saw almost no change in the top half of the table as each of the top seven teams managed to secure all three points against their opponents. League leaders Chelsea maintained their five-point gap over reigning champions Manchester City while Liverpool continued their fine form in the calendar year. Arsenal too had a somewhat comfortable evening like their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur but Southampton left it late once again; keeping alive their hopes of breaking into the top four.

The midweek action began on Tuesday with Southampton – the only team in the top half among the action – in three matches. Ronald Koeman’s side needed a late goal from Sadio Mane to secure a narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. Wednesday featured seven matches and all the games had one team taking three points.

Arsenal maintained their third place with a 2-1 win over relegation struggler’s Queens Park Rangers but Chelsea needed an offside goal to keep their lead on top intact. Eden Hazard headed home Ramires’ cross in the first-half but the linesman failed to spot the Belgian forward just ahead of the West Ham United defence.

Manchester City – having played one game more than Jose Mourinho’s side – kept up the pressure on the league leaders as they fought hard to register a 2-0 win over Leicester City. James Milner added to David Silva’s first-half opener to secure all three points against the league’s bottom club; making things more difficult for Nigel Pearson’s side to hold on to their top flight status next season.

Fresh from their 2-1 triumph over Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City, Liverpool maintained their 11th cleansheet in the league campaign. Jordan Henderson fired home the opener in the 29th minute and then delivered a beautiful cross for Daniel Sturridge to make it 2-0 for Brendan Rodgers’ side. With the fifth-placed Reds pushing to nick a place in the top four; their arch-rivals Manchester United were lucky to remain fourth by the end of this matchweek. Ashley Young capitalised on a dreadful error by Tim Krul to  ensure the Red Devils beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park.

I’m sad to see Frank Lampard back into EPL, especially when he plays against his former club. It taught us that… there is no such thing as loyalty BUT JUZ B PROFESSIONism. Chelsea shd hv kept him to train academy youngster in Chelsea, exactly what it is going to do with Drogba. The likes goes to long serving guy like JT , mainly bcoz these players bring Abranovic (Chelsea Owner) Not only the reputation, but also the European
History empanelled in the history of the club by delivering him the CL trophy !!!
