The Welshman chose to wear a suit on his first game as manager and was joined in the dugout by coaches Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville. Giggs started with Wayne Rooney up front who grabbed two goals against Norwich.
Rooney scored his first just before half time, when Danny Welbeck was brought down by Steven Whittaker.
Giggs when into the dressing room for the break having to give his first half-time team talk after going 1-0 up. The talk must surely have worked as Manchester United looked fresh and much more entertaining in the second half.
Rooney extended the lead after three minutes by scoring his second goal, curling in a fine shot from 25 yards out into the bottom right corner. Juan Mata was sent on as a substitute and score immediately by slotting home from close range a Phil Jones cross.
Mata then scored his second by getting the slightest of headed touches on a Antonio Valencia cross. On the night Manchester United looked like they regained some of their old confidence after a dismal week. The 4-0 win must give them some respite.
