The final destination of the clay season 2014 reaches with the beginning of French Open 2014. And as per the current rankings in the ATP and WTA tour, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams will lead the brigade as the top seeds of men’s and women’s singles respectively. The event taking place at the Stade Roland Garros for the 113th times in the history of the game will begin on 25th May and continue till 8th June.
The top billing was very much predictable with four time defending champion Rafael Nadal taking an aim at record nine wins at French Open. Rafael Nadal has had a mixed results so far in the clay season and all eyes would be on the ace clay court champion to take his performance up at the mega event. He has seventh seeded Andy Murray in his half of the draw. After being handed over quite a tricky path to the finals with players in form of No. 21 Nicolas Almagro, No. 5 David Ferrer meeting him in his half of the draw. These players have beaten Nadal this clay season at Barcelona and Monte Carlo respectively.
As for the women’s singles is concerned, defending champion Serena Williams is the top seed at Roland Garros. Serena Williams who would be hoping to win her third French Open title. She faces world no. 138 Alizé Lim in the first round who happens to be her good friend. Other notable contenders is seventh seeded and arch-nemesis Maria Sharapova who had had good run this clay season 2014.
