Vijender Singh lost his final bout in the men’s 75 kg division against A Fowler in a thrilling contest, where the decision was determined on the weak performance by Vijender in the first round.

Indian ace boxer Vijender Singh struggled against the Englishman A Fowler as he lost the first bout 30-24, a difference that showed the fact that he was nearly punched out in the first round itself. The Englishman waited for Vijender to put his guard down and struck at important junctures scoring heavy points.

Vijender delivered a better performance in the second bout but till couldn’t get the better of the Englishman as he lost the second round 30-29 on referee decision, with the first judge giving him a 9 compared to Flower’s 10.

It was too late as the final round arrived and as soon as the bout got over the Englishman was seen celebrating even before the referee decision was out. Vijender won the third round 30- 27 but the first round defeat meant that he lost the bout 2-1.

He was the second Indian boxer to get the silver medal this evening as earlier Mandeep Jangra lost his final math against another Englishman Scott Fitzgerald.
