At the end of Day 4 of Asian Games, India’s medal tally touches 11 including 1 gold, 1 silver and 9 bronze to be placed at 13th rank in the medal table. Take a look at the following Indian medallists at the end of Day 4 of competitions at the 17th Asian Games here Tuesday:

WUSHU

India’s Sanathoi Devi settled for the bronze medal after she lost her semi-final bout to Chinese Luan Zhang in wushu women’s sanda (52kg) in the 17th Asian Games here Tuesday. The Indian lost 0-2 to the Chinese at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium.

WUSHU

India’s Narender Grewal settled for the bronze medal after he lost his men’s sanda (60kg) wushu semi-final bout to Filipino Saclag Jean Claude in the 17th Asian Games at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium, Tuesday.

WUSHU

India’s wushu athlete Yumlembam Sapana Devi finished seventh in the final of the women’s changquan event of the 17th Asian Games at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium here Tuesday. Sapana scored 9.27 points out of 10 as she collected 4.7 for quality of management, 2.57 for overall performance and 2 for degree of difficulty.

SQUASH

Men’s Team Group play stage Group B Match 6: Kush Kumar of India beats Albraikat Saif Yousef Irsheid of Jordan in straight games 11-6, 11-7, 11-9 to give India 1-0 lead over Jordan.

HOCKEY

Men’s Pool B Match: Rupinderpal Singh and Raghunath Singh scored twice in the Men’s Pool B match to beat Oman 7-0. Apart from Rupinderpal Singh, the other three goals were scored by Ramandeep Singh, Akshdeep Singh and Danish Mujtaba.

WEIGHTLIFTING

Women’s 63 kg: Taiwan’s Lin Tzu-chi broke two world records with her final lift to snatch gold away from China’s Deng Wei in the most dramatic of fashions in the women’s 63kg at the Asian Games.Lin took the lead with a clean and jerk lift of 143kg which took her to a total of 259kg and smashed the old combined world record of 257kg.

HOCKEY

Men’s Pool B Match 6: Akshdeep Singh and Raghunath scores in the third quarter in the 33rd minute and 39th minute to give India unassailable 4-0 lead over Oman. India next plays against Pakistan on September 25.

President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated medal winners Dipika Pallikal, Saina Nehwal, P.V. Sindhu, P.C. Thulasi, Pradnya Gadre, N. Siki Reddy, Ashwini Ponnappa, Tanvi Lad, Rahi Sarnobat, Anisa Sayyed, Heena Sidhu, Samaresh Jung, Prakash Nanjappa and Jitu Rai in their respective disciplines. In individual messages, Mukherjee congratulated and wished them “continued success in their future endeavours”. “India is proud of their achievement, which has ensured that our flag would fly high in the international arena.” said Mukherjee. Men’s Pool B Match 6: Rupinderpal Singh’s double strike helps India lead 2-0 against Oman at half-time. India could not capitalize on chances as they had 10 shots to Oman’s 1. But they lead in half-time much to audiences relief. Rupinderpal Singh scored twice to give 0-2 lead against Oman in the beginning of 2 quarter. Indian men’s hockey team failed to score single goal against Oman at the end of first quarter at Seonhak Hockey Stadium – Pitch 1.

Abhinav Bindra said he feels excited to win medals in Incheon alongside world-class shooters after the star Indian shooter won double bronze – in the men’s 10m air rifle in individual and team event on what is to be be his last major international competition as he has decided to become a hobby shooter from now on.

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist had a fine sequence of scores barring 9.9 and 9.6 on his 6th and 12th shots, and had to be content with the bronze medal after shooting 10.6 and 10.7 in his last two shots. The gold medal was won by 18-year-old Chinese sensation Yang Haoran who came into the tournament as the clear favourite after winning the world title at Granada, Spain just prior to the Games.

Men’s 77kg Group B event: Ravi Kumar Katulu finishes at second place with a total lift of 313kg (141kg snatch + 172kg clean & jerk) in Men’s 77kg Group B event.

SQUASH

Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: In a whopping historic battle for supremacy, Saurav Ghosal won first silver medal for India and added to fellow sports player, Dipika Pallikal’s bronze medal won on Monday. Saurav Ghosal lost an enthralling final that he led for half the match before his opponent turned it around to run away with the gold. It would be heartbreaking result for Saurav Ghosal but he brought glory for Indian squash history and to country. Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: Saurav Ghosal loses to Abdullah Al Muzayen in Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match in marathon five games. Saurav Ghosal saves one match point, 9-10 in final 5th game of Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match. Saurav Ghosal on brink of losing the gold medal match as he is down 8-10.  Trouble for the India’s Saurav Ghosal as he is down 7-9 in the final game. He is deep problem against Abdullah. The routine of squandering lead of two points is back to haunst Saurav Ghosal as he is left in lurch with 7-7 tie. The top seed Indian is now clear of two points as Saurav Ghosal goes 7-5 up in the 5th game. Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: Saurav Ghosal squanders two game lead to be tied at 2-2 in the final match as  Abdullah Al Muzayen makes a great comeback to square things here. He takes the fourth game 14-12. Sauarav Ghosal level 2-2  Abdullah Al Muzayen.

Saurav Ghosal is not able to clear the two points deficit as he is down 7-9 in the fourth game of final match. Saurabh Ghosal will have to let go of the third game setback as wins the opening point of the fourth game. But he is put under constant pressure from Abdullah Al Muzayen as Ghosal trails 5-7.

Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: Abdullah Al Muzayen hangs on in this final match as he take the tird game 14-12 after 19 minutes of play. Saurav Ghosal leads 2-1 Abdullah Al Muzayenof Kuwait. Abdullah Al Muzayen is not letting go the gold medal match as he is trying every bit to save the finals. Both players tied at 12-12. It is a see-saw battle in the third game with both the players tied at 11-11 after a dramatic turnaround of events, Abdullah Al Muzayen trying to snatch the third game from the top seed Saurav Ghosal to pull things back in this gold medal match.

Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: It is easy pickings for the top seed Saurav Ghosal as he take the second game 11-2 in just 6 minutes to extend his lead to 2-0 over his opponent form Kuwait. Saurav Ghosal leads 2-0.

Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match: In a tightly contested first game, Indian top seed Saurav Ghosal does well to take the opening game against Abdullah Al Muzayen of Kuwait 12-10 in 21 minutes. Saurav Ghosal leads 1-0.

Malaysia’s Nicol David wins her sixth Asian Games squash medal, beats compatriot Wee Wern Low 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 12-10 in marathon finals where she had to work hard to defend her Asian Games title after losing the first game.

Trap Women’s Team Finals:  India’s Seema Tomar (66 pts), Shreyasi Singh (63 pts) and Shagun Chowdhary (39 pts) finished at sixth place in the Trap Women’s Team Finals after scoring a total of 168.

Men’s Double Sculls Repechage 2: India’s Om Prakash and Dattu Baban Bhokanal finish top with South Korea coming second in Men’s Double Sculls Repechage 2 at Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center.

Men’s Single Sculls Repechage 1: India’s Sawarn Singh finishes 1st in Men’s Single Sculls Repechage 1 at Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center.

Lightweight Men’s Quadruple Sculls Repechage 1: India’s Rakesh Raliya, Vikram Singh, Sonu Laxmi Narain and Shokendar Tomar finish second.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: Ace Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra claimed his first Asian Games individual medal by winning the bronze in the men’s 10 metre air rifle event at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range here Tuesday. The 2008 Olympic gold medallist had won his first Asian Games medal earlier in the day by taking third place in the men’s team 10m air rifle event along with compatriots Sanjeev Rajput and Ravi Kumar. 10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: LIU Tianyou of China eliminates as Abhinav Bindra is fourth placed.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: KIM Sangdo of South Korea is third shooter to be eliminated while Abhinav Bindra 2nd after twelve shots in 10m Air Rifle finals.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: Abhinav Bindraon tops after ten shots in 10m Air Rifle finals with 104.2 points. KIM Hyeonjun of South Korea is second shooter to be eliminated.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: SKOROVAROV Vadim of Uzbekistan is the first on to be eliminated from the finals after eight shots. Abhinav Bindra is in 2nd place after eight shots in 10m Air Rifle finals with 83.1 points.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals: Abhinav Bindra after six shots has dropped down to the fourth place with 61.8 points. He hits a 10.5, 10.4 and 9.9. At the end of three shots, Abhinav Bindra is at the second place with 31.1 after the three rounds of shots with Yang Haron of China leading with 31.8 at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range.

10m Air Rifle Men’s Team Finals: India won their first medal of Day of Asian Games as the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Team led by Abhinav Bindra with Ravi Kumar and Sanjeev Rajput finished third to bag the bronze medal at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range. 10m Air Rifle Qualification: Abhinav Bindra has qualified for the 10m Air Rifle finals after finishing fifth with 625.4-4x points at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range. The qualification was dominated by the Chinese shooters as India’s Ravik Kumar and Sanjeev Rajput finished a lowly 20th and 21st place finish.

The Day 4 of Asian Games 2014 will begin with focus revolving around one name – Abhinav Bindra. Yes, the 31-year-old created a stir in Incheon with his announcement of retirement post Asiad 2014. Ironically, Abhinav Bindra who remains to be India’s lone gold medalist in Olympics has won just one medal in Asian Games, a silver medal in 10m Air Rifle Team event in Guangzhou    . Bindra will be looking forward to winning this eluding achievement from his kitty at Incheon and also compete the great feat of successive medals in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

The fourth day of 17th edition of Asian Games 2014 will also see squash player Saurav Ghosal playing gold medal match against Abdullah Kh Kh H M Almezayen of Kuwait in his maiden Asian Games singles finals. The 28-year-old Indian already has three Asian Games bronze medals to his name — winning the bronze in singles in 2006, 2010 and a doubles bronze in 2010. There are several individual performers who will try and win the top honours for India like wushu athletes, World No.9 Narender Grewal and World No. 5 Yumnam Sanathoi Devi already assuring India two medals in men’s and women’s category but they would hope to get only the best. From gymnastics artistic event, Dipa Karmarkar and Ashish Kumar will be in action in the Individual All-Around Finals.

India with total number of 6 medals stands at 13th position in the Asian Games 2014 Medal Table after the end of first three days. Indian athletes would like to eclipse this lack-lustrous display and bring glory for the country.
