Asian Games 2014 officially kick started post the extravaganza opening ceremony on September 19 amidst the fun and frolic of the 10,000 athletes’ participating from 45 countries and regions vying for gold in 36 sports. But the real action for the quest of the topmost honour begins from September 20 at Incheon. Since the beginning of the Asian Games way back in 1951, India remains to be only the third nation apart from China and Japan to finish at the top of the medal standings, will start their campaign at the 17th edition of Asian Games with major stars fielded on the Day 1 of the Asian Games. The Day 1 of Asian Games 2014 will see India participate in sporting events like badminton, squash, tennis, judo, shooting, wushu, volleyball, rowing, handball and equestrian. With 18 medals at stake on the first day of Incheon Games, the first medals of the Day 1 is highly dependent from the Indian shooters especially from Jitu Rai who recently won the silver medal in the Granada World Championship that helped him gain a direct entry into the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
