Andrew Flintoff disappoints in first Big Bash appearance

Andrew Flintoff failed to show any kind of form or performance during his Big Bash debut while playing for Brisbane Heat. Brisbane Heat lost by 56 runs to Sydney Thunder at Stadium Australia. The ex-England all-rounder was smacked around the ground for 25 runs in the two overs he bowled to Mike Hussey and Jacques Kallis. The opening batsmen gave stellar performances in their 160 run opening partnership to give Sydney Thunder the edge over Brisbane Heat.

Brisbane Heat had a bad start when they were two wickets down with just 14 runs on the board and the massacre continued throughout the match. Andrew Flintoff came in after the fall of the fifth wicket when the required run rate was already over 14 runs. He didn’t contribute to bringing the heat down and was caught out in the third ball he faced while trying to dispatch a full-toss from Andrew McDonald or a 6 but ended up returning to the pavilion without scoring a single run.
