Happy New Year lead actor Shah Rukh Khan is known to be a loyal friend to most in Bollywood, but sometimes he deviates from his loyalties to try out new alliances and generally ‘experiment’. One of the recent examples of this was last year when he hired hip-hop sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh for an extra song in Chennai Express, titled Lungi Dance. SRK faced the wrath of Vishal-Shekhar, music directors of the film Chennai Express, simply because he signed on Honey Singh without informing the composer duo. The song went on to be a chartbuster and that was jale pe namak.
SRK and Vishal-Shekhar go a long way and have worked together in quite a few films including Om Shanti Om and RA.One and delivered quite a few popular songs. After the Lungi Dance episode, Vishal-Shekhar made their hatred for Honey quite vocal, even as judges of Indian Idol Junior where they rejected his songs.
The ball was in SRK’s court to make it up to them. Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani were then signed on again by Shah Rukh for his 2014 release Happy New Year, obviously after promising them that he will not hire Yo Yo again. At the Happy New Year trailer launch in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan promised Vishal-Shekhar that he will not betray them this time by hiring Honey Singh for a song in Happy New Year.
It’s clear Shah Rukh Khan does not want to mix a certain set of his friends with the other. No matter that Lungi Dance was one of the biggest chartbusters of 2013! But after his assurance, SRK mocked calling up Honey Singh sneakily. The composer duo simply smiled.
We wonder if there’s a surprise in store from SRK! But for now, the superstar has confirmed there is no Yo Yo Honey Singh song in Happy New Year.
