Satyamev Jayate 2: Episode 1 song Bekhauff

The first season of Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate became popular not only because of the societal issues it covered, but also the heart-rending songs like O Ri Chiraiya. Satyamev Jayate season 2 premiered on March 2, 2014 and in no time social networking sites were abuzz discussing the show’s topic. The first episode of Satyamev Jayate 2 touched upon the sensitive issue of the difficulties faced by rape survivors in the system and society.

But more people wanted to listen to the song that played at the end of the show – Bekhauff – sung by Sona Mohapatra, composed by her husband and music director Ram Sampath and written by Svati Chakravarty (lyricist for the Hindi version).

Sona has rendered the touching song beautifully, and that too, in five languages – Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam – for the five regional languages Satyamev Jayate is aired on television.

Bekhauff‘s lyrics saying, ‘Deewarein oonchi hai galiyaan hai tang, lambi dagar hai par himmat hai sang… Bekhauff aazad hai behna mujhe, bekhauff aazad hai rehna mujhe…ladni hai mujhe aazadi ki jung…’ really touch your heart and make you sing along.

I liked the Marathi version. Wordings fit the music very week. Hamsika Iyer has done a great job singing the Marathi version. I suppose Sona Mohapatra sang the Hindi version. It would have been nice if they pictured on Hamsika for Marathi version.
