Furious 7: Top 7 things we expect from the seventh movie

Furious 7 will be a kickass ride with the crew doing another one of their ‘last rides’. The team was pulled back into the game after retiring because of their last nemesis’ big brother’s revenge. Jason Statham plays the role of the big bad brother Deckard Shaw who is out for revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family who were responsible for the death of his brother Owen Shaw (played by Luke Evans). Agent Luke Hobbs aka Samoan Thor played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is also back to join forces with the gang to bring the house down on the revenge seeking Shaw.

Furious 7 will be a bittersweet movie because of the untimely passing away of actor Paul Walker. There have been many tributes given from the heart by family, crew members and fans of Paul Walker, who played the role of Brian O’Conner in the Fast and Furious franchise. The role completed by his brother and with the help of computer graphics along with clever editing tricks should do the job, but just knowing that Paul Walker’s role is a sham job spoils the fun a bit. On the other hand, we expect a tear-jerking and memorable tribute to the star without whom the franchise would not have been possible.

If the Fast and Furious franchise was an exotic car, then Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are like the body and the performance while everything else are refinements that make it better. We take a look at the seven things that we expect from the seventh film in the Fast and the Furious franchise, Furious 7.

Next level stunts

Right from the first film in the Fast and Furious franchise, there have been fast, and adrenaline pumping stunts that set your pulse on fire. Be it the first film where they tried to rip off truck drivers for DVD players, or the cars jumping from one bridge to the other while Dominic Toretto catches Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) who is lunged off of the tank and still lands safely, the movies push the envelope when it comes to stunts. We have the trailer itself that shows the cars driving off an airplane and popping parachutes before they land only to begin pursuit of an armoured RV. Then there is the Paul Walker stunt where he jumps from the side of the RV and catches on to Letty’s car that is drifting on the edge of a cliff, as the RV slides down that same cliff. Faster cars

Fast and Furious films have always been about fast cars that have been modified in some way or the other to make them faster than showroom models that anyone can go and buy. The Lykan HyperSport that is driven off from one building to another is in the hypercar territory along with beefed up Dodge Challengers and Subaru Imprezas. A new directorial perspective to a globally loved franchise

Justin Lin left the seat empty for the director of Furious 7 but it was quickly filled by James Wan. The horror film director is known for films like The Conjuring and Saw. The reigns of the latest film seem to be in good hands after watching the previews in the many seven-second videos and the trailer of Furious 7. But will the film be given a horrific angle, is what needs to seen when Furious 7 releases on April 3, 2015.

The loss of Paul Walker, much loved actor, and an integral part of Fast and Furious

Paul Walker’s untimely demise due to a car crash in 2013 raised a lot of questions about the timeline of Furious 7. Would it be a summer blockbuster or could it be pushed forward as a Christmas release? The makers of the film managed to stick to the schedule and to the joy of moviegoers, the film will release on April 3, 2015. Jason Statham as the villain

Jason Statham always brings a sense of speed and athleticism to his films with his action scenes. Even the lesser known films with Statham appeal in some way or the other, as the English actor brightens up the screen. The sixth film from the Fast and Furious franchise showed us what we could expect in the next film when the plots intertwined with The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. The end credits of Fast and Furious 6 showed the Mercedes sedan smacking Han’s car on the side and throwing it off like a bulldozer, and the impressive scene where Deckard Shaw (Statham) gets out of the car, taking his phone out and threatening Dominic Toretto.

Statham’s inclusion in the Fast and Furious series is a brilliant move. His short end scene sets the mood for Furious 7 to be a revenge saga, and we can’t wait to watch the movie!

Old gang meets new members

The old gang, led by Dominic Toretto, consists of Brian O’Conner, Letty Ortiz, Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Ludacris (Tej) with Luke Hobbs who is more of an ally than a gang member. The new faces that we know of are Kurt Russell, Ronda Rousey, John Brotherton along with other names. Kurt Russell’s character looks like a man of the law who is helping Dominic probably due to his connections with Hobbs to explain how big a threat Shaw can be.

The road ahead

If there was no end credits scene with Jason Statham threatening Dom (Dominic Toretto), then the seventh Furious film wouldn’t have been required because the crew seemed to be content with what they have achieved. But, the Tokyo Drift film would have been left hanging, and you can’t have such a big loophole in such a popular film series.

There are talks of an eighth film as well, which clearly means that Jason Statham escapes or that there is a new twist to the way the filmline progresses when the existing storyline of the film meets with the Tokyo Drift timeline. (Edited by Shweta Parande)
