Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone has reportedly refused her Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani director Karan Johar’s film Shuddhi to star opposite beau Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.
Ranveer himself was being considered for Shuddhi after Hrithik Roshan walked out of the film for health reasons. Deepika, who was keen to work in it, has now taken the decision to not do the film citing date issues.
Whatever the reasons, it’s clear Bollywood’s cool couple prefers to be on SLB’s side, the director of their 2013 blockbuster Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram-Leela.
Ram-Leela was a Romeo + Juliet adaptation, while Bajirao Mastani will be based on the controversial real-life romance between Bajirao Peshwa and his muse Mastani. The film was earlier going to star Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai and later Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor /Katrina Kaif.
Interestingly, both KJo and SLB were eyeing the December 2015 slot for the release of Shuddhi and Bajirao Mastani.
But from the decision of Deepika and Ranveer to back their new mentor, we are forced to think: Is Karan Kohar losing his magic while Sanjay Leela Bhansali is regaining it?
