Kashmir Earthquake: Moderate quake Valley, no damage reported

A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, today shook Kashmir Valley but there was no report of any damage due to the tremor.

Kashmir Earthquake:  Moderate quake Valley, no damage reported

Srinagar, Jun 30: A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, today shook Kashmir Valley but there was no report of any damage due to the tremor. (Read: Earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir: Tremors felt in valley)

“A moderate intensity earthquake was recorded at 3.40 am today,” a spokesperson of the MeT department said. The epicentre of the tremor was Hindukush region in Afghanistan, he added.

Police officials said there were no reports of any damage due to the tremor, which occured when Muslims in the Valley had finished having pre-dawn meals (sehri) as part of fasting month of Ramzan.
