A woman sub-inspector posted at Crime Against Women cell of Delhi Police was arrested today by CBI for allegedly taking bribe from accomplice of a prime accused in a rape case promising to help in the case.

CBI arrests woman sub-inspector held for taking bribe from accused in rape case

New Delhi, Dec 5: A woman sub-inspector posted at Crime Against Women cell of Delhi Police was arrested today by CBI for allegedly taking bribe from the accomplice of a prime accused in a rape case promising to help in the case.

CBI sources said Sarla, posted at Crime Against Women cell of Delhi Police at the office of DCP (East), was nabbed by the agency red-handed while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 10,000 from a woman who is also named as accused in the case.

The sources said Sarla had allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the woman, who is on bail, for helping her in the case. The deal was finally settled at Rs 10,000.

CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur said in a statement that a case was registered on a complaint alleging that the Sub Inspector was demanding a bribe.

“It was also learnt that the SI was allegedly threatening the complainant to get her bail cancelled in a criminal case against the latter,” he said.

Gaur said the agency laid a trap and the SI was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. “Searches have been conducted at her residence at Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh)…The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the designated court at Delhi,” he said.
