Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela showered praises on outgoing Gujarat chief minister and prime minister-designate Narendra Modi, leaving his party red faced. Vaghela who is the leader of the Opposition in Gujarat Assembly kicked up a storm when in his farewell address in the special assembly session raised the sensitive issues of Ram Mandir and Uniform Civil Code. The pseudo-secular image of the Congress party took a hit or is there any sense of switching sides?
Vagehla who has been a staunch rival of Modi since the late 90’s when the latter took over the reins from Keshubhai Patel. Vaghela in his short farewell speech batted for the construction of the Ram Mandir and the much-controversial uniform civil code. He said Modi is not the Prime Minister of BJP but entire India. People have voted for him with huge expectations.

The Congress party who has been whipping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its stand on the construction of Ram Mandir over the years finds itself in a big humiliating position. Vaghela said, “Modi should ensure the construction of the Ram Mandir is completed in his tenure as a Prime Minster.”
The Uniform Civil Code has been well debated subject in the last few years. With the Congress party is hesitant to pass it, the BJP has been long asking for its implementation. Vaghela while showering praise on Modi and his works said, “The Uniform Civil Code should be implemented pan-India, Narendra bhai should look forward to implement it.”
