Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was formed on November 26, 2012. It was formed by activist Arvind Kejriwal who thought the need to politicize the ‘India Against Corruption’ movement was necessary in order to ensure that the Jan Lokpal Bill was passed. This was against the wishes of activist Anna Hazare, who is the original driving force behind the anti-corruption bill. For a party that was merely a year old, AAP managed to form a minor government in Delhi with support from the INC. They remained in power for only 49 days though, when Kejriwal quit after the Jan Lokpal Bill was not tabled at the Lok Sabha. Currently, AAP is holding various rallies to protest against BJP and Congress, citing them as corrupt organisations who are in cahoots with Mukesh Ambani in ensuring rise of gas prices.
