Modi in damage control mode
Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi moved into damage control mode on Tuesday, an FIR was registered against Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia leader for “inciting communal passions” during his rabble-rousing speech in Bhavnagar on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has barred Giriraj Singh from addressing election rallies.
BJP candidate Babul Supriyo surrenders and gets bail
BJP candidate and popular singer Babul Supriyo on Tuesday surrendered before a local court and obtained bail in connection with a criminal case for blockade of National Highway 60 allegedly by him along with party workers on April 12. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Aniruddha Maity granted him bail for 14 days till May 5 next.

Trashing Narendra Modi’s development model in Gujarat, Mulayam Singh Yadav Tuesday called it “false propaganda” and described Modi as “a liar and a fraud”. Mulayam, contesting from Mainpuri that votes April 24, was talking to party workers after filing his nomination for the April 30 Azamgarh poll.
