Honda launches its 7-seater MPV Mobilio in India starting at Rs 6.49 lakh

Mumbai, Jul 23: Japanese car maker Honda announced its entry into the large volume MPV sector with the launch of its much awaited first 7-seater MPV Mobilio in India on Wednesday. The price of the petrol variant of the 7-seater starts from Rs 6,49,000 while the diesel variant of the MPV starts from Rs 7,89,000 ex-showroom Delhi.

The price of the petrol variants of the first Honda MPV in India are as follows:

The ex-showroom price of petrol Eritga in Delhi is between Rs 5,80,228-Rs 7,35,083 while the diesel variant is available in the range of Rs 7,22,630-Rs 8,49,416. The Toyota Innova price starts from Rs 9,97,446 and goes upto Rs 14,92,206. Unlike its competition Toyota Innova is available only in diesel.

The Mobilio is developed specially for the Asian markets keeping in mind their needs. The car has been successful since its launch in Indonesia in January this year. Company expects the diesel variant to contribute 25 per cent of its sales target for 2017. Honda is targetting smaller towns and cities

The MPV will be offered in 4 diesel variants with toplining with fully loaded RS variant and 3 petrol variants.

All the major car makers in India have already entered the MPV market. Maruti Ertiga leads the market as more and more families opt for the three row MPVs over sedans. Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster Unlike the Ertiga, Mobilio also offers decent boot space. Mobilio offers Honda’s entry is only expected to give the market a big boost.

Honda is launching Mobilio in both the diesel and petrol variant. The petrol variant will be powered by 1.5 litre 16Vi.DTEC 4 cylinder petrol engine which generates power of 119 bhp at 6600 rpm. The diesel variant of the Mobilio will be powered by 1.5 litre 16 Vi. DTEC diesel engine generating max power of 100 bhp at 3600 rpm.

The Honda Mobilio went on sale in Indonesia in January this year while the RS grade of the car was launched later.

The Japanese automobile major sales grew by 75 per cent in June 2014 at 16,316 units as against 9,297 units sold.
